ABOUT

I am Joep Knols, a 25 year old musician from the Netherlands. I picked up guitar at sixteen and piano a little while later. From the moment I could play my first chords I started writing my own songs. Music has since been a way for me to express myself and place the world around me. I always strive to be honest and open in what I write, because in a way music is the language of our heart. I would describe my music as hopeful and positive, for the careful listener even the sad songs offer a glims of light.

As I developed, it felt like a very natural step to start sharing my music with others. In April 2020, I released my first two singles Dolphins and Love Me Through the Night. In early 2021 I recorded a new EP, called New Kind of Love, that is coming out this summer. Due to the fullness of the songs on the EP, I decided it was time to bring in a band. I gathered four amazing musicians that now form JK & the Balance. We hope to see you soon.
